Yea, that sucker is huge. I have some .015 715s. Gonna look at the size next to a .05uf.

Thanks again.

Also, didn't 183 have some larger OD1 cap?? .05uf on OD1. Pretty important fact.
If in fact it were a fact...
Notes say .015 OD1

Sometime ago it was posted at ceriatone forum that RF's amp has no V2A snubber and V2B coupling cap is 0.01uf .Can anyone confirm if that's really the case?
Snubbers are 270pf

Shad,

The OD1 cap in TKT is the same length as the V1B coupler. This much is certain from the clear pic. Therefore, if the cap is a 715 series .015, it must be an 800v or 1000v spec. These are 1.25 inches in length, approx the same as a .05 PS series. The .015 600V 715 is only .9 of an inch. Clearly shorter than the cap in the pic.

Sound right?

Thanks!

Sorry, OTG's? (output grids)

Hey that was like magic!
I was thinking along the lines of "on the grids" or "output grids".

.015uf 715 at 1600uf is possible. Those have that size, I have seen them in a CD30 DIAZ amp.

.9 " looks about right to me...

1.5" like the ones on this page look a little long:

Also is the cap specs your using or comparing to NOS di-films (paper and foil) or are they metalized foils?

Maybe the older ones are bigger.

In any event most caps are noted as 502, 503 etc....the notes for that cap say .015

Easy enough to plug in values here to verify...Should be pretty clear what works best.

So these and a lot of other ODS amps are really running the bias cold aren't they?

That's barely above 50% on Tags amp, no?

Hmmm, I may have to get my screwdriver out.... :)

The 800V and 1000V .015 caps are 1.25" in length. THe .05 PS caps are 1.20" in length. So, I will assume the cap was 800V or 1000V. Def not 600V. The cap is the same length as the OTG caps and the V1B.

But again, thanks for sharing Shad!!

dogears wrote:Interesting, the pics say it is a 100K trimmer. So, wouldn't you get 100K from trimmer input to ground? Unless the OD was not on, then the 220K is grounded on the other side.... In my tests, a setting of about 24K sounds best.... From wiper to ground. Fwiw of course.
ampdork wrote:
Question, was the OD trimmer measured with the amp on and OD on?? The reading changes depending on whether the amp is on and OD engaged.....
My notes indicate that I was getting 33K from the node of the trim pot and 220K and the wiper and 21.53 from ground. notes say OD IN...
I was trying to make sense out of those numbers too... I believe the measurements were top to wiper and wiper to bottom (ground). If the 220k isn't grounded, then those two measurements should add to the trimmer element, 100k. If the 220k is grounded, 21.5 wiper to ground should have 58.4 top to wiper, and the trimmer would actually be set at 23.2. I don't suppose it matters much, since its a set-to-taste thing.

PS Ampdork, thanks for posting the info!

And NO thanking me damnit!

Thank Howard Alexander Dumble.

He had the vision to lock himself up and not come out until he had a thing clearly his own.

Dumbleland is a great place to visit but the population is one...

Hopefully this will advance others whom are visiting these parts in their own evolutions on to new, as of yet, unseen vistas.

He deserves all the credit.
I have done nothing noble to him and can only hope that he will not harbor bad things in his heart for me and others like myself ...

But what can be expected of bootleggers and pirates other then rum running and the love of big booties?
