Wow, you really are freakin' thick. If you want an amp, this is the place to find one. If you want to stroke yourself over an amp you bought, go to the Gear Pages. We don't need to hear you or your Dumble.

If we really want to hear an authentic Robben Ford cover of "Politician", it's already on a CD and it doesn't have your name on it. YOU are just a cheap, unsolicited copy - not even a clone - just another wannabe copping someone else's licks and tone. It was nice to hear Funk's take on it 'cause, first and foremost, he's a BUILDER. Get it?

Well, something in my lower extremeties is according to my girfriend.

If you want an amp, this is the place to find one.
You may be right on that I hate to admitt. I have hooked up with a builder (Not sure if he is a member or not) who seems to be more detail oriented than anyone I have ever heard of. I am going to be working with him on every detail to make sure this amp is EXACTLY right tonally, Unlike all the other D style amps I have heard. If this is not DEAD on, it will never get my approval. If its DEAD on, it will, with direct A/B clips in all styles to prove it without any doubt. Then you guys can start asking for gut shots of that one, and I can tell you "no" as well. LOL!!!
If you want to stroke yourself over an amp you bought, go to the Gear Pages.
Yes, I will thank you. :D

We don't need to hear your Dumble.

Exactly how the clones sound. HAHAHA!!!

If we really want to hear an authentic Robben Ford cover of "Politician", it's already on a CD and it doesn't have your name on it.
But in all seriousness, you have the effects he used, mic he used, type of Dumble he used etc etc to wonder about. It does little good. Thats why "I" think my clips are helpful, even if you do not. It removes all of the unknowns, and I was telling you EXACTLY how and what it was recorded with. But you have no interest of COURSE.
YOU are just a cheap, unsolicited copy - not even a clone - just another wannabe copping someone else's licks and tone.

But you appreciate Funks cloning of an amp? I guess thats not being a cheap wannabe stealing someone elses work, right?? LOL!! :D

Yes, you should use it!

Tag were do you get off call us a cheap wannabe stealing someone elses work? Who exactly are you? I never heard of you until someone mentioned you wasted good money buying over priced equipment (Dumble).

Pull your head out of your ass and stick it up to the clouds so you can get a breath of fresh air, your way off base.

From what I see so far:

1. He can play guitar, especially "politician".
2. He is on a tone quest and we are privileged to witness.
3. He has a real Dumble therefore should be revered and catered to.
4. He builds nothing.
5. He shares nothing except clips of him playing his amps.
6. He seems to irritate some of the heavy hitters on TAG.

Is there anything I'm missing?

I'm still recovering from the "warble" scandal over on TGP and it's brief life here so I want to make sure that I know the terms of engagement before I get sucked into another colossal waste of time.

With some humor.......... some

OH, you say its my game, so I get to make the rules so here they are.

NO BS.

No ass kissing builders, but of course being polite is GREAT,

Tones must be as close as possible to an actual Dumble, and clips must be supplied to show it.
If any other come to mind I will let you know.

Pretty simple me thinks.

TAG

What do you do for a living that you have 55K to throw on an amp? That blows my mind.
Tone is important yes but is it worth 55K and this ridiculous cork sniffing quest your own?

The fanboys at TGP love your clips. Like stated this a builders forum. Everyone contributes it some means. Some dudes who have been in real Dumble's have more contributions than others, but everyone tries to bring something to the table and help make this place what it is. Endless amounts of clips arent helping frankly. Personally I don't give a sh it about you and your "tone quest", it just annoys me. Good luck and all but you might find better luck at TGP, I'd head over there ASAP. Whenever you post a thread there is goes viral in mins.

And that's how I feel.
(for the record I don't listen to RF or LC, nice tone but I'm not a cork sniffer on a quest :x )

Hey Fowler.
Here is where I got it from. Below is what I was called FIRST, so maybe you need a new pair of glasses AND a hearing aid so you can hear what a real Dumble sounds like?

"Tag, YOU are just a cheap, unsolicited copy - not even a clone - just another wannabe copping someone else's licks and tone.

There must be something wrong with me - I like Tag's postings. Tag represents someone who has Gear acquisition syndrome - these are good people to get to know when you want to sell the clone that's on your bench right now so you can afford to build the next one. His "problem" is one that the majority of D-style amp buyers have, they are always thinking about buying the next one. We are always thinking about building the next one. The only difference between Tag and most of the ampgarage members is he buys and we build. We are both trying to satisfy our cravings. IMHO his clips are good yardsticks for our tweakings.

OK, Tag.

Time for me to lose my baggage.

I used to work in a shop that catered to real players - custom instruments.

There exist two kinds of customers: 1) players that know what they need and know how to help the builder achieve that target and 2) players that chase gear but cannot express their needs - they only know what they don't like.

You seem to be in the latter category, buying gear in an elusive chase.

This is a builders' forum. If you post a clip of your new amp and yet think that it doesn't quite meet your goals, tell us what you are not getting from it and we can try to help you achieve that goal. What are you NOT hearing in the Two Rock that makes you need another amp?

Read some posts by players like Dogears and Gil Ayan and you'll see that people exist who can play, listen, and express what is or is not happening. It's the difference between a test pilot/rider/driver that can be part of the team that takes their craft to the next level. This is a sharp contrast to the player that just says "I'm not hearing what I want. Fix it."

Dig?

Sorry to have dumped my frustration on you. I let you poke at an old sore.

Back to the top then: What is missing in all the amps you've played?

No Tag I read you correctly, your head is still in the wrong place.

This thread is going no where, pointless, and just argumentive on all levels from both sides including myself.

Henry most of us suffer from G.A.S. but not that extreme.

I bought a house for my youngest son cheaper than what Tag paid for an amp, what a waste of money.

Now you know why Tag was suspended at TGP.
His trolling will always stir up peoples emotions.

His type of GAS fuels amp builders as Henry said.
They are the best customers until they start complaining about the amp they just bought and request endless support for that same amp.

The bottom line is, this is still an amp builders forum so endless clips of Politician are not helpful.

Not interested in a pissing contest, yet you start it and keep coming back! LOL! What a bunch of cry babies. All because I will not post pics of the real thing nor think any clones nail the sound of a real Dumble. Well, fact is they do not. Rolling Eyes Get back to work kids, you have a long way to go. Later.
Wow, Ive got a little "warble" in my gait after that comment. Seriously, Tag I am glad you found your ultimate Dumble, I'm really glad that you spent 55K on it and I'm concerned that it's still not quite right and you're still looking. Must be frustrating. Maybe you should try an "ampstrument" they are over on the trainwreck side. Please continue to post your thoughts on your amp, criticisms of others and mocking refusals to share information. It's great reading! I hope you are getting 55K's worth of attention.

All ribbing aside, (Tag, this IS in good fun and IMO, just what you are asking for) this thread brings up some concepts that I'd like other people's opinion of. So here are some ideas for consideration:

Sound of amp or music in general = an emotional state, a shift in the physiology of the listener. May be bad, good, indifferent, or exceptional. I think that the right amp / guitar (and all the other factors) really are trying to reach a resonant frequency which move energy / emotion within the listener.

State of the listener = we may pine over the 20% tolerances of electronic components and their = or - affect on the amp they are really far more predictable than the state of the listener. Again, basic physiology as an unparalleled impact on the listeners state and therefore their ability to appreciate the sound of music. If you are starving hungry or emotionally joyful these states have a huge impact on how you perceive music at any given time.

Emotional projection = the act of projecting emotional states into, in this case, an object, the amp. If what we are trying to achieve in music is an emotional shift within ourselves and the listener shouldn't we look at the emotional shift that certain objects have for us. In truth that's why we have them, because of how they make us feel. The issue isn't the object but how the object makes us feel. I have seven strats but only one feels "right NOW".

The degree of emotional projection that goes into a Dumble amp is fascinating. They have all the factors which make for fantasy and obsession. Their artist / creator is eccentric and unavailable, famous icons play them, we can't afford them (except Tag), they are rare and coveted. Each one is different. Compare this to the emotional projection of a clone. "well it sounds just like a Dumble" (but it's still a clone) if it was a woman at least we'd (I hope) smart enough to realize our self deception keep our mouths shut instead of "baby, you make love almost as good as _____"

Heisenberg's principle of uncertainty = enough about how the amp makes us feel, how does the amp feel about us? Heisenberg proved that matter existed and behaved differently in "observed" and "unobserved" states. In other words, atoms act different when someone is watching. Would a Dumble make a sound in the woods if no one was listening? This can open the door to a whole new level of obsessional and dysfunctional behaviors for if we are truly looking for the ultimate amp /sound shouldn't we be responsible to the impact WE have have on the object? Ever notice how some days things / objects just don't work for you?

So.................... I think that I can get a little lost in all of this.

Or.................... I could enjoy my hobby, for me the joy is in the process.

And.................. I can express my gratitude for the generosity of all those who know more that I and for a community where compulsive behavior is encouraged.

just my .02

Actually most of us here have mad respect for Brandon as he has given this forum a ridiculous amount of information on D-style amps, to include schematics and gut shots. The only things he hasn't posted pics of are the shots of his HPD and that's what people have to bitch at Funk for  TAG this isn't TGP so here the guy who gives the most info gets the most respect.

I have run my own Landscape design/maintenance firm for over 30 years.

Tone is important yes but is it worth 55K and this ridiculous cork sniffing quest your own?
Yes, the amp is like nothing I have ever played before, and I would never have spent the money if it was not.
The fanboys at TGP love your clips.
Huh? many of them HATE my clips, no matter what amp I use.

Thats cool. I appreciate your honesty! :D I think clear home made clips of an actual great sounding Dumble are both rare, and of great help when comparing other amps that guys are building trying to get that sound. I have played many Dumbles, and this one sounds as good as any I have tried.

Good luck and all but you might find better luck at TGP, I'd head over there ASAP. Whenever you post a thread there is goes viral in mins.
You seem to be adding to that here.

Yet you are here reading this. must be on some kind of a quest, and if its Dumble related, most are going to say you are sniffing.

Thats fine, but you cant use a double standard. If I am a wannabe stealing Ford and Benson licks, he and anyone else is a wannabe stealing Dumbles Ideas.
