I think it would be cool to see inside but what information it would offer up I wouldn't even begin to know. I remember posts online about Spragues being filled with smaller Spragues encased in large bodies much later in the company's lifetime. Would be kind of cool to see inside a TAD but that's the extent of what I know about what could be gleaned from doing that. Are they pricey pieces? Maybe don't if they are haha

Re: ODS Filtering Question
This is what I want to find out. For the premium price, I would rather not to see a random radial with a fish weight in it. Will crank it up tomorrowpottedplant wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 2:34 pmI think it would be cool to see inside but what information it would offer up I wouldn't even begin to know. Re: ODS Filtering Question
those German TAD caps are nice in fender-based circuits. To me they sound different from most caps out there, but resemble the older american mallory filter caps

Perfect values for my Dumble build, too. I already reordered a set. I won't open them of course, but I'm hoping for equally close tolerance. The leads are made of copper, but broke off easy with just a bit of a back and forth bends.

Re: ODS Filtering Question
a sacrifice to the tone gods! i am always super interested in the physical aspect of how components work. capacitors are especially intriguing because in the "hydraulic circuit analogy" they represent something quite interesting. when i look at how an amp works as an overall system it's so fascinating to imagine all these 'rubber diaphragms' reflecting signal from one side of a system to another all working at the same time. there is a cool video on youtube showing how electrolytics are made at united chemi-con and they show the great importance of electrolytic by demonstrating the use of coca cola as an electrolytic and how poor it works next to one that was made with their electrolytic. very cool stuff and a mildly expensive display of the work put in to make these things work on an industrially produced scale.

i figured someone might want to see the video so i linked it here
