SSS #2 100w 6L6's (lived in Japan for awile before he owned it)
I know this amp has been posted before but this is just a killer vid. He's clearly using the SSS. Also interesting to see the guitar neck get strangled a bit in this one:
John Mayer "Voodo Child" (Total SRV vibe)

Same here: (different venue "Red rocks" )

I uploaded that earlier today!boldaslove6789 wrote:Finally some new SRV footage on the tube. Appears to be a Electro Harmonix Memory man on the floor, weird?
SRV, Daytona FL, 1987
Steel String Singer (KTC), And possibly a 300sl or the Blackface SSS
(He was using Tommy Shannons 300sl around this time in his rig)

Hi Carl and Greg,boldaslove6789 wrote:Cool, then I can personally say: THANK YOU!
thanks for the upload and the post here. Great stuff. But Greg, at what time do you see a black Singer or a 300SL? To me it looks just like the silver Singer on top of the Dumble 4x12", Fender to drive the Fender "Leslie" cabinet on top and a flight case on the left?
Thanks again,
Max

Max,
Around this period of time he would have the SSS (KTC) to the far right and sometimes the blackface SSS or Tommy Shannons 300sl to the left.
I am unaware for sure but it is possible
If you look to the far LEFT in this SRV clip (From 86') you will see the 300sl sitting there, you have to be patient and look but it is there sitting above a 4x12 ( dumble cab ?)

Here is a Carlos Rios clip.
Some technical details and some gut pics of his Dumble ODS #093, a "low plate classic" (like most of the "transition generation" and very early "4th generation ODS"), have been posted by Tony (talbany) in this thread: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 297#127297

Greg, are you sure? In the first video the pilot of the Two-Rock is obviously on and at 1:02 of the first video he seems to adjust some control of the Two-Rock what would be rather pointless if it's not in the mix?boldaslove6789 wrote:He's clearly using the SSS.
Thanks for posting! Definitely no Muzak!

Re: Dumble video/sound clip reference, real Dumbles only please
Max,
Thanks, I missed that, you're right he does turn a control on the T-R in addition to the SSS. I guess it is necessary to have more than 1 amp to get that huge SRV sound.
BTW, all the pilots would be on even when not in use, he uses a CAE switcher of some sort to control a vast effects and amp rig.

Robben Ford with a Stratocaster and his 4th generation Vox grill "low plate classic" Overdrive Special (one of the very first 4th generation ODS amps):
Rhythm guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWrayHnbND4
And from the same Montreux gig (source: comments), but "sound only":
Lead guitar – from clean to scream! (his solo part starts around 2:40):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQsayvE6_Pc
The cabinet RF used for this Montreux gig I can’t see on the video clearly enough for identification. Perhaps the Dumble 2x12" or perhaps what you see here at 1:49 (BTW: perhaps no "Dumble reference clip", as there seems to sit a Marshall on top of his Vox grill ODS). Sound is a bit different than the Montreux sound, too. Perhaps because of the Marshall, perhaps because of the cabinet, perhaps because of other reasons:
