Picks for Telecaster
Hi , anyone can advise me a good pick-ups for a telecaster for a D-tone?
A friend of mine told me that Lindy Fralin Picks blues special can be ok , but I want to ask to the forum for more info.
I think to remember I read, the picks of Robben's Tele are about 7-8K and the bridge pick is overwound!
My Tele: body Swamp ash , neck ash + rosewood , 21 jumbo frets!
Thanks all

Original flat poles or Duncan Antiquity.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Another vote for Fralin!
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.......

My choice is not classic Telecaster but it works for me.
Neck = Di Marzio twang king
Bridge = Di Marzio Chopper T

They look interesting....I use V picks (small pointed) and agree about the chirping although that does quieten down as they wear in. The 'back story' to Gravity Picks looks interesting......close links to V Pick......I'll leave it there.Structo wrote:Speaking of picks for a telecaster.............or any guitar for that matter.
A couple months ago I got a free sample from a new pick company called Gravity Picks.
If you frequent The Gear Page you may have seen them.
I receieved a red 1.5mm Mini Razer pick in the mail and I liked it a lot.
It is the same size as a Jazz III pick.
I decided it was just a smidge too small for me so I ordered some 1.5mm regular Razer picks.
These are great.
I had pretty much always used the Dunlop Tortex picks in .88mm (the green ones).
But I noticed that I seem to play better with a thicker pick.
Chris the owner of Gravity also threw in a free 3mm orange Razer.
That one works great too.
I tried the V Picks and as much as I wanted to like them they just don't work for me.
Too much pick noise with a kind of clacky noise when I picked the strings.
Plus they were clear and I would always lose them.
With the Gravity picks you can get an assortment of colors.
Now I know that many may object to "boutique picks" but until you try one you will never know.
Check em out.
In fact, email him and ask for a free pick and tell him Tom from Salem sent you.

Wolftone, Fralins, as well as Klein pups are all great.
I really dug the tones with just the stock pups in an American Standard Tele and a 183 amp. (which has the same basic DNA as Robbens' #102 Ojai amp) Nailing the......well, hate to say it, but....the politician tone (ergggg).

I'll add Harmonic Design to the list of good Tele PUs. They offer a few with higher output.

The stock pickups that come in the AVRI 62 Tele's are outstanding and cheap. Angela sells them with a new bridge plate and saddles for around 50 bucks.
