Re: KT66
Nope, I haven't tried kt66's in my 50w OTS or HRM types. I'm afraid about the screen voltages, I have both the TS RI kt's and a couple of very valuable pairs of vintage British ones. Of course I'd not run the spendy ones until some pin voltages were taken and compared to the spec sheets. I bought mine, didn't build.
I do have a boutique amp built around the kt66, it's a single channel Bluesbreaker circuit that sings almost as readily as my D-clones. Chris Siegmund built it.

Depends on which mfg's KT-66 you have. If its parentage is from China, these tubes sound better biased hot.
Which brand of KT-66 do you possess?
I am work on a break, however, this review goes into detail under Shuguang:
http://thetubestore.com/kt66reviews.html
I generally do not trust reviews by vendors of tubes, however the above URL points out that some the tubes (Sovtek, Tungsol) that are sold as KT-66 are just 6L6 tubes in fancy bottles and others (Saratov, Gold Lion) are the genuine article, I haven't seen Saratov, but suspect from prior experience with Gold Lion tubes that Saratov is most likely the source for the Gold Lion or will bear a striking resemblance.
The old Russian 7951xyz (examine your zipper) tubes (disc. but still for sale) were repinned 6L6s. The new EH 7591 are 7591 tubes but in oversized bottles.
I haven't tried JJ's take on the KT66, just haven't had time.
And, I haven't tried the Shuguang Treasures (Black Interior), but a number of Hi-Fi friends swear by this tube, state its the closest one can get to the old Genelex MOV KT-66 without going into serious debt purchasing a quad, only semi serious debt.
Breaks over,
Best Regards,
Steve
