#004 SSS mad experiment

Post by M Fowler »

I'm messing around very slowly with trying to come up with some kjind of a frankenstein #004 style SSS.

I had a SSS chassis from rj sold that and then got another one from rj which he had drilled holes and sized boards so I was pretty much stuck with copying the #004 SSS board style.

I'm just putting stuff here and there, hopefully will complete this winter.
I really should leave this Dumble amp building to Tony and other pros. :)

Killer project Mark. Great job so far. Cool implementation of the SSS board layouts.

Do we have a (mostly) verified schematic for 004?

I thought it was just 001 and 002 in the info's.....
it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds

Thanks guys, it's definitely a bunch of stuff thrown together that's for sure.

No schematic for the #004 that I know of but there is plenty of information on TAG for many Dumble amps so I am taking what I want from that and trying, emphasis on trying to come up with an amp that just might give me the feel of an SSS.

This is just a project I would like to see work and hopefully sound great. :)

Like Tony Said HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had talked to some TAG members about building a SSS just using the Fender Twin Reverb as a basis who said your version has to have step filters or FET. You can add overdrive to yours or not, endless choices.

Looking good so far Mark.

I've started a similar project. Stalled at the moment due to lack if funds, but am sifting through the parts draw to keep things going.

Aaron, I like your layout and that is how I would have gone if my chassis hadn't already been punched :)

Keep at it even if slowly.

There was some good discussion on the inductor a while back:

I was looking for a .900 inductor but someone maybe Tony said it isn't necessary.

Mark,

Thank you for sharing your journey on this build! I look forward to seeing and hearing what unfolds!

Very cool to see someone make educated and reasonable guesses and yet venture to coloring (somewhat) outside the lines at the same time.

Best regards & with respect, 10thtx
