Borderline Special Tremolo circuit?

Post by v00d00blues79 »

I've been looking at the pictures for the Boderline Special that Gil so graciously shared with us, and I've been trying to figure out the tremolo arrangement that is going on in that amp. Has anyone taken a look at this and been able to decipher what's going on in that section of the amp? I'm thinking its a bias modulation arrangement, but I'm having a hard time tracing the wires and I don't see an opto roach.

Thank,

Andy

No one has published a schematic or layout, that is correct. What I'm asking is if anyone has looked at the pictures and tried to figure it out. This was more hoping towards opening a shared dialog about this amp. The rest of the circuit looks pretty standard, but it was the trem section that has me puzzled.

Thanks,

Andy

There's been discussion about the Borderline trem coming from the old Magnatone vibrato circuit (M-10), gotta do some digging around though.

Thanks for the tip. I'd searched the forum briefly, but I didn't see anything about this one. I'll go digging some more!

Thanks,

I saw that thread, but it didn't strike me as useful since the pictures of the Borderline didn't show an opto in them. I've been looking more at them today and it looks awfully close to the tremolux's bias modulating trem with some different values.

Thanks,

Andy

The Magnatone vibrato circuit is one of the best ever.
The borderline has a similar design to the Fender Tremolux 5E9-A With a few changes.
No OPTO Roach.
