Here's a cut and paste from the ad:

A little Dumble anecdote here: At my friend's insistence, as he was friends with Robben, my very first Robben Ford experience was around 1988 at a club called Bayou in Georgetown, DC. Robben blew us...

wow...too much information

I've never seen so many Dumble's for sale. Especially complete sets! I wish they were going for less so I could scoop one up.

Bad economy combined with a thriving clone market. Not sure the clones live up to a Dumble, but as an owner, you want to sell at the top of the market.

Also, I'm not sure many people could afford the insurance to play a Dumble worth $40k at a local bar. If you hav e a $40k amp, would you take it to a $500 gig?

Looks like 50K is the cash out figure! Retirement time! Few investments have done as well as a Dumble.

Mid switch. So I've my doubts that #0169 is really an ODS with a "classic" EQ like RF's ODS #0102 at the time of the "Talk To Your Daughter" recordings and tour http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta55XbGbda4 . But who knows. Perhaps #0169 has a "deep" switch function labelled "mid"?

Cheers,

Max

My take is that the economy regardless of all the doom and gloom you hear is at the point where certain folks are willing to spend again, unlike 4-5 years ago. Let's face it, if you have 40-50K+ to spend on a freakin guitar amp, you have been doing well all along. Have any of these recents amps not sold?

The world is a much smaller place now and if the word gets out (internet) that a few real Dumbles have been selling for a decent amount, now is the time to put yours on the market, casting your line in the water.

Yes, the genie is out the bottle and there are great clones available.

Here's a question for the serious clone builders......Excluding any and all investment potential, how many of you would be willing to spend even 12K on a real Dumble ODS amp?

When I first spoke with HAD in 88', I would have never thought that one day, an ODS would sell for $50K.

I think the economy isn't getting any better. Income after taxes is lowest in 20 years. ect...
The people buying these amps probably already have a lifetime of financial stability set aside, ( gold, real estate,)
When the future looks bleak people start to dump non essentials while they're value is perceived to be highest. These ODS prices haven't moved much higher in the last few years.

If I had $50k in the bank this auction would be over and there would be a whole lot of #TKT169 clones floating around. Taylor knows Tone

The US federal reserve note is nothing less than toilet paper at this point and time.
I was in shock on the price of new old stock parts and components this year 2013.
This #0169 set with flight cases, My guess it should sell for around $85.000 to $125.000
Time will tell. Thank you qtone for the history of one of my amps. :D
