lot of Volume in a Dumble based amp

Post by Ranalog »

I made a Dumble based amp.

I see that I have lot of power, I dont know but more than 60W sure!

How can I down this power without changing the character of the amplifier.

I am not sure what you mean. The intended character of the design is to have clean headroom, and not tax the power amp such that it distorts. When used as such, the Loop Return potentiometer will allow the user to tame the volume while retaining the character of the amp, but if the amp is used to generate power amp distortion, then this might be the wrong amp for this appliocation.

I think I have not explained properly.
I mean, when I put the volume to 2 (8-9 o clock) I have lot or signal (volume)

I also want to say that supposedly thought it would have a 40-50 W amplifier and what I have are almost 70 W. What can I do To have the same volume at 5 (12 oclck)

I can't up of 9 oclock in the volume when I put the Gain at 11-12 oclock.

I want less volume at 9 oclock in the volume control

Again, what is the taper of the volume pot? If it is linear, use an audio pot instead.

And if its an Alpha audio, try a CTS audio. The Alpha (pseudo-audio taper) pots come on faster than the CTS (true-audio-taper) pots IME.

Adjust the volume about where you want to use it, then loosen the set screw and turn the knob where you would like to see it.
