My SSS #002 Build

Post by captaincoconut »

Hello fellow amp builders, I'm new here and setting out to build SSS #002 after watching Ryan's awesome video series on YouTube. I already have one of Erwin's chassis on the way and am collecting parts for building the headshell.

One information I couldn't find what exactly HAD used for the aluminium (?) stripes of the SSS. I guess he didn't use metric values...are they 2mm thick? Thicker? What about the depth? 15mm? 20mm? That's stuff I can easily get my hands on.

Thanks for any help :)

I will keep this thread updated on my journey!

I am glad you like the videos! On mine I use 1/8" thick and 1/2" wide aluminum stock throughout. Conversion required for mm values :D

I can’t say what HAD used but I used 20mm x 2mm and feel it looks too thin compared to other builds. I’d look for 2.5 or 3mm in the future.

I think 1/8" x 3/4" aluminum bar is the stuff, commonly available in hardware stores in US. That'd be 3.2 mm x 19 mm.

Thanks for the answers! I got some aluminium stripes from the local hardware store and so far I think the 3x20mm seem to be the best fit, but I haven't settled yet. Will do the first woodwork today or tomorrow!
