HI !
I built a cool 22W 6V6 based on the D'lite and I opted for the skyliner tonestack pretty much as it is originally in dumble amps like the 124 or the 102 without the jazz switch. I added the mid boost switch on it compared to the D'lite original. But I find it to be too boomy and not as defined in the basses when the mid boost is off ... I have to flip the bright switch on but sometimes it is too bright. What tonestack would solve this problem ? Maybe the original D'lite tonestack ? Or the Tweeked D'lite tonestack ? Or something else ? What do you think guys ?
Here is a picture if it just for fun.
Thanks !

Some other options would be reducing the size of coupling caps particularly the PI coupling caps, or reducing the size of the cathode resistor bypass caps in the preamp stages.
Re: Less boomy tonestack for 22W 6V6
Yeah you are right ! For the cathode bypass caps I already have 5uF caps ... I think I will test some smaller coupling caps on the PI.
Re: Less boomy tonestack for 22W 6V6
Any other ideas ... ?

So, it looks like you have something like this, yes? My preference is a .01 mid cap, a .001 treble cap, and a 10uf cathode bypass cap on the second stage. Your ear may want something different.

It's a good idea to use a graphic eq pedal to identify what the problem frequencies are.
How about reducing the value of the bass control cap, currently 0.1uF?

Reducing the huge .05uf Tone stack cap down to .01 or .02 uf will also help with the boominess .
Two Rock uses the .01uf on some of their builds.

In the sketch above, I'd try 250k on the bass and treble controls and 15K for the mid control. Use a 250 picofarad treble bypass cap. If this is the Fender bassman type stack, then I'd use 33 k for the slope resistor and 0.02 caps for the two tone caps. I've gone through a lot of variations and this one gives a fair range on each control.
