For the Robben Ford type sound I was thinking of mixing a Celestion GH 12 65 and an Altec 417 with a cardboard dome.
I kinda divide speakers into 2 catagories, the more hi-fi sounding speakers, and the more guitar sounding speakers. The hi-fi are the EV/Altec/JBL hi sensitivity type. The guitar are the Celestion/Jensen types. Less sensitivity and more guitar tone focused.
I've never had a good mix between the 2. I've tried several combinations but it always seems that the hi-fi takes over the tone.

What does the rear port do to the tone ?
I think the rear port tuning is critical, but I'm not an expert on the dimentions. Best wait for someone who knows this stuff.
What as been your experience with the following speakers:-
1. Celestion Gold 50 watts
2. Celestion GH12 65
3. Celestion GH12 30 - is this the same tone as the 65 ???
4. Altec 417 with cardboard centre
5. Jensen Jet alnico
Is the Celestion GH12 30 the same tone as the GH12 65 ???
I am looking for a Robben Ford sound. I know he uses GH12 65.
Can the D'lite 44 watt handle and get a good tone from 2 celestion gh12 65? Is there too much speaker for the 44 watts is what I am trying to find out ?
Is it possible that someone forward the dimensions for a speaker cabinet with two 12. Surely someone has looked into this issue!!!

No, they sound quite different. The 65 is fatter and punchier (IMHO)

FWIW he uses only originals not the resissues.

No, it's not too much for the amp to handle. In fact it'll add clean headroom from a 1x12. I prefer 2 12's with every amp, right down to my little 15 watter.
