LC touring select cities with Steely Dan!

Post by blinddog »

http://www.steelydan.com/

Larry playing with the Dan.

I just saw this this morning.

Brandon may have know about it, but I hadn't seen anything prior so I thought I'd share. With the way they have been running commercials I am assuming ticket sales have been far less than brisk.

I can't make the shows were I'm at but I hope some of you get the chance.

Jon's rig is a Bludo, LC left his Bludo's in the EU and played the Dumble for those first couple gigs- then asked me to rush him another bludo for the rest of his US dates and his upcoming Japan dates with RF  He said that it's time to let the Dumble rest 8)

I guess he's finishing these dates with the Dumble since it's already on the gear truck, and then it goes to the locker.

this is what i wanted to see. I love Larry's grin after his first solo when the crowd goes nuts. Good for him! I really like the update on the out solo, too.
Oh and BTW can we get the backup singers to not vamp over that out solo?;)

There are like 10 other clips from that show some from floor some for balcony. Sound quality okay.

Is it me or on Reelin' is he using a wah? Looks like he is moving his foot when the sound changes.

Or is it the same HAD amp that was in those European clips, that sounded very Marshall like, maybe both? Based upon Brandon's comment I assume that is Jon's Bludo on top of the rack.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone.

That was a good solo from Larry on that.

Too bad the audio and video from these concerts are so bad.

I know they are bootleg, but hopefully there will be some pro video out of this tour.

I was "forced" to become a Steely Dan fan over the last almost 9 years by circumstances, as I play in a SD tribute band. Quite frankly, I pondered whether to go see the SD shows with LC here in L.A. and I ultimatelty decided to pass. I am glad I did, that sounds pretty bad -- not the sound quality, the performance itself -- and it seems to me LC is unable to begin to capture his own sound of 30 years ago. He had done a medley of some older tunes back in the 80s and had nailed all of this, now it sounds like he's trying to fit in his "happy jazz" sound into what was definitely not that when it was cut. Mind you, I didn't like the rest of the band either other than the drummer and maybe Jon H, it seems.

been an lc fan since the crusaders, like anyone lc has bad days , sometimes on record, but, sorry to say, to me he plays more music on a bad day than jh or any other gtr they ever had in that band on their good days. (diaz was great) at least the occasional larry noodlings are still interesting and genuine than all the standard licks the others try to think are filling the shoes when they aren't there.
lc, -to his credit- doesn't appear to want to copy his own licks or anyone else's, i mean, who wants to pay $300 a seat to hear a gtr player play something the same way he did 30 years ago? not i
