led lit faceplate...
IIRC, I saw an amp head here with a plexiglas front, lit by blue leds on the sides...
Does anyone remember seeing this?
I've tried the search already, and can't find it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I think to get the most out of LED illumination, you'll need to find some light pipes to spread it out across the whole panel. You might be able to scavenge some out of some old PCs. Seems like I have seen some decent ones in the past, but don't remember where at the moment.
Edit - just remembered that I have seen some wide ones inside of the external USB hard drive cases. There must be a boneyard of them somewhere.

Re: led lit faceplate...
have you tried using smd leds the way you back light a cellphone. its quite easy. and doing a plate like the one in the link you would get a slight overall effect but where it was engraved or opaqued would show up better.

Re: led lit faceplate...
Thanks, all...
I still can't find the picture I was thinking of.
It was darker, a head on a 4X12, I think.
And the name on the front panel started with an
"X" or perhaps a "V"...
I'll live if I can't find it, but it looked very cool, indeed.
Something I'd like to try...

Re: led lit faceplate...
A few years back it was popular to install cold cathode light tubes into computers.
You have a window on the side of the PC then the blue tube below in the bottom corner of the cab, it lights up everything inside with a blue light.
I have one like this and it works great.
I wonder if that is how H&K is lighting their pexiglas panel?
Have the edge of the plexiglas sit on the light tube and it will light the interior of the plexiglas and make the parts that are etched stand out.
With LED's the light is not diffused and is rather beamy.
Unless you have a row of them like in a light rope, but not sure how that would work.
