Band stuff tomorrow, so Wednesday is my next opportunity to tinker. I will check the coupling cap on the reverb recovery stage.

BTW I am running 12AT7s for the reverb driver and PI just like the schematic.

It may not be the problem but Id also check for my pet Fender hate: the fiber board being conductive :evil: . Many years ago my 71 Super Reverb drove me crazy with this. Ive also had the misfortune recently to find even a new replacement board having the same problem, particularly during hot humid weather.

Actually, that's my "before" picture, but it seems like I had something funny going on there, though when I repopulated the board. I have plenty of resistors, but it always seems like I have to scrounge for capacitors.

Firestorm was correct. No more thumping. This amp sounds great with a Strat plugged straight in.
