Need a quiet switch

Post by Luthierwnc »

Hi All,

I'm working on a design that will convert a 5879 from a pentode to a triode in the first gain stage. It will be on the front panel and will have to carry some B+. My first instinct is to use the same sort of switch I use for the on/off and standby but those have a decided click in operation. Since this may be used on the fly, it would be nice to flip it on the QT.

Does anyone use or recommend a medium/duty switch that is really quiet?

Thanks, Skip

My thought is that if you are switching it on the fly, the resulting pop through the speakers will drown out any mechanical click noise from the switch.

I've got some tricks there to unload the grids. I'd still like like a click-less switch. sh

The problem isn't in the mechanical noise but in the loud pop

You can try this

Here's what I was going to do.

But I still would like a recommendation on a switch that doesn't sound like someone snapped its ass with a wet towel. sh
