Kt66 power transformer

Post by Sazafraz »

I have a hammond 272fx 300-0-300 172ma , 5v 3a , 6.3v 5 a

Was wonder if it would be enough to to a lower voltage jtm 45 kt66 build. heater current is good but im just not sure if the b+ current will be enough

Would be standard jtm45 with gz34 and choke after plate node

Thanks

I'd use it too. Another 2 cents worth. Maybe someone else will chime in and you can get a whole nickel out of the deal (rounded off for inflation, of course).

It should work nicely. You've got plenty of heater current and 175mA should be plenty. I used that same PT for an Express build with EL34s. Should be similar draw.

I used Valve Arts KT66s in my JTM45 and they liked to be biased hot (about 80%) but they sounded awesome. They're just rebranded Shuguang.
