Audio Myths Workshop video

Post by gktamps »

Thought this was an interesting reality check on how we perceive the effects of components. Not directly about guitar amps, still relevant:

This is really good. Currently working on an album recorded @ 196Hz/sec. NEVER AGAIN. Way too much processing power. 44.1 will be fine from now on. Can't hear a difference anyway. Seriously, each DAW project is a couple GB in tracks... Learned my lesson.

Actually, he said 196Hz. I can't understand where all that drive space is going! 8)

My golden ears can't hear the difference between 192Hz and 192kHz anyway...

But I can definitely hear the phase shift in a 10' cable.

I thought that's what this forum was for? Maybe I'll just go to TGP where they appreciate real, quality gear.

I haven't been able to take TGP seriously ever since reading a 10 page thread on the tonal benefits of POWER CORDS, of all things, and then seeing someone trying to sell one in the emporium for $250. Some people will believe any claim if it's attached to an appropriately high price tag.

Yup. I have never understood the logic of something like a $250 power cable, when said cable is still going to plug into a good ol' 120 VAC wall outlet which receives power via 25 cents/per foot non-metallic shielded (i.e. "Romex") cable.

Maybe I'm just over-due for the Mojo Fairy sprinkling pixie dust on me.....
