Amp Building
Not sure if this is OK to post here? If not, please delete. I do think the classes are of great benefit to people interested in amps though.
Spring is right around the corner. Time to start up the amp classes again. First class is March 14 & 15, 2015 at The Berkley Music Company in Berkley, Michigan.
Cost is $1650 total for the two days. You walk out with a fantastic, 20 watt, hotrodded Marshall style head that you built with your own hands. Please email me at begnater@aol.com for more details and registration forms. Classes do fill quickly so don't wait too long.
This is not just a "a paint by numbers" building class. It IS a valuable learning experience that you won't find anywhere else.,,,,and a lot of fun, too. Even if you've built an amp before, there is still much to be gained as well as getting a great amp you can use as a platform for customizing.

Re: Amp Building
Lots of views but no comments, good or bad. Could use some feedback to know we are doing the right things.

Very nice looking build Bruce!

Re: Amp Building
Thanks. Every student's amp will look as nice when they are done.
Re: Amp Building
Nice looking amp! Bet it sounds good too. I'd love to do something like this but I live too far away. Price seems reasonable. Good luck with your classes!
EL84"s or 6V6's?

Re: Amp Building
Very good program you have going.
I was in contact with you years ago for the class but it was cancelled because your company was too busy to continue the amp class. I marched on and have built many amps since then.
Glad your offering the class again it will help those in attendance for sure.

Re: Amp Building
It is one of the things we really love doing. I'm glad we can continue to do it. FYI, I would guess 80% of the past attendees were from out of town. We have had people come from Alaska, Dominican Republic, Australia and all over the US and Canada. It is pretty cool meeting others from all these different places.
Re: Amp Building
Yeah I was in Fargo, ND at the time so I was going to drive over, just getting ready to book the hotel that had been suggested and pay the attendance fee when you emailed about cancellation. Would have been a good time and a great Marshall type amp as well when done.
Re: Amp Building
would love to attend but not doable in my current financial situation. Used to have rebel 30 had to sell it. mind giving a little info? i really like the tube blend setup with the el 84's and 6v6's with one bias adjustment if i remember correctly. how does that work?

Re: Amp Building
It's great that you offer this Bruce. For the price, it's probably a labor of love more than a money making proposition.
Same as amp building in general for most of us.

Re: Amp Building
It's like adult baseball camp but for grown up geeky kids (instead of overgrown jocks) who like to solder ;-} That probably includes a lot of people here lurk here. This is meant to sound encouraging (in case you got the wrong idea.) I'd have gone to this in a heartbeat 10 years ago.
Re: Amp Building
Bruce,
The price looks right (from both sides), but can you really get neophytes to a complete 20W build in two days? That's impressive! How big is each class?
