Gary, I found that to be completely OT relative to the ongoing Ultrasound discussion. Just trying to help, no malice intended here.

 The whale has vanished. Back on topic.............I.ve been interested in a Komet Constelation for a while, but like yourself, I need to try it and see if it works for me. So a place like ULTRASOUND would be welcome in my area. The closest Komet dealealer is 200+ miles away. There's a Bad Cat dealer in my area with no Bad Cats, so he's no help with that amp. :(

Gary,
As I mentioned in my PM, you have worn out your welcome here. There are a number of people that you have pissed off with your posts. You may think that you have done nothing wrong, but the truth is very few people are interested in what you have to say.

If this place, in your words, is a joke, and you are getting a 'screw job' then I have some advice for you - The internet is full of plenty of other amp building forums. Maybe it would be in the best of interest of everyone if you looked into posting on those boards.

Let me make one last point to you - I will not stand for you threatening to sue me. You have no legal basis and you don't even know the difference b/t libel and slander. If you think that threatening to sue will endear you to the forum and it's members than you really are living in a distorted reality.

Everyone else,
Please post about the topic and avoid the riff raff.

I just need to point out that the whale was not graphic, nor was it pornography. There was a swimsuit in there somewhere.

ANYHOW - back to reality:

I'll contact Ultrasound after the holidays to see if they do such a thing. Also will check with a couple of local shops.

I for one would pay. This is because I (obviously!) don't have the breadth of experience with the types of amps they have in stock.
Check out their website.

http://s30931.gridserver.com/amp_browser.php

The full name of the place is Ultra Sound Amp Sales and Rental. There's a daily rental fee and a weekly rental fee listed. I for one would pay $300 to have my way with Dumble #167, it's an amp I wouldn't have access to any other way. The best part... there's no way to get an unmentionable social disease from an old amp!
I've called and asked. What the price list doesn't tell you is that they require that you post a bond of I guess what they feel the amp is worth in case it doesn't come back in one piece. I inquired about an Express and was told the bond was about $25k at the time. Imagine you get into a car accident and the amp is totalled on the way home from picking it up!
Here's the way to do it: You should have around $25k available credit on your credit card. They'll "sell" you the amp as far as your credit card company is concerned, then the charge is removed from your card on the amp's safe return. What's more likely than a car accident is that you'll put the amp in your car, turn around to feed the meter and some scumbag will steal the amp when you turn your back.

New York Christmas several years ago: Friends, associates, colleagues and clients piled the booze on me Christmas eve. We had sessions to wrap up before the presents were unwrapped so we just kept on going until the wee hours of Christmas morning. Re-wind a bit. I had stashed all that booze in a liquor box and tucked it in the rear footwell of my car parked out on the street. I should have known better but what kind of a scumbag would rip me off on Christmas eve? There was some good stuff in that box, champagne, cognac, vodka, scotch, and wine. The session wrapped up around 3:00 a.m. Christmas morning, my car had a busted driver's side window, my Christmas presents were all gone. To add insult to injury the perp had stolen my hat and gloves so I had to drive home with a broken window and no hat and gloves. I may have been able to improvise something for the window but my big roll of gaffer's tape was gone, too. I expect that a thief had broken the window and stolen my booze minutes after I stashed it then various others had rummaged through the car until I got out of session.

Call me negative but every time I grow back a glimmer of faith in humanity some creep comes along and snuffs it out.

(wait for it, there's a chunk of random audio at the head)

Now that I got that over with I'm going to play my imaginary guitar...

I don't suppose it would be as steep for Ultrasound to demo their high end amps in one of their rehearsal studios.

Oh yeah, amp gets totalled in a car accident: Your auto insurance doesn't cover it but if the accident involves another car their insurance will. If there's no other way your homeowner's insurance covers property lost or damaged in transport to and from your home.

Back on topic: So does Ultrasound knock a little off the purchase price for "wear & tear" when an amp is rented out? I would not want to spend $40k on an amp that has been rented out to every bozo with $300 in his pocket...
