All, I have a strange issue that appears to be related \ isolated to the Reverb Circuit of a Princeton clone. When the volume gets above 7 there is a strange crackle \ distortion noise. When V2 is changed from an JJ AT7 (two of these do the same thing) to any AX7, problem goes away.
Chopstick test didn't uncover anything, everything is dead quiet.
All solder joints have been re-checked and flowed.
All voltages check good.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Re: Strange Distortion Noise
Lacking background context; has it ever worked right, is it a new build, did you build it, is the exact schematic and layout used available, photos etc?

Re: Strange Distortion Noise
It's a new build. The schematic is the AA1164 circuit.

Re: Strange Distortion Noise
I figured this out...
2 things I believe were contributing to the problem ... I had bent the cathode pin 3 down toward the chassis (and pin to separate the wire from the wire running from the Grid wire (pin 2 and 7). The Plate wire from Plate Pin 1 and 6 was laying on top of pin 3. This was likely causing oscillation. Also, I had taken a short cut on V3 pin 6 from the plate load \ coupling and went across the tube socket. Rerouted this also. Problem is gone.
