Best amp cradle?

Post by Mark »

I have gotten to the stage where I’m sick of balancing amps on wooden blocks etc.

I was wondering based on your experience, which amp cradle works the best?

Thanks for your assistance.
Yours Sincerely

biased i see lol

curious, has anyone here ever used rolls of blue tape? I love how the power transformer bell fits inside the opening just enough to stay put.

I have done the blocks like you & I have from tacked together a dedicated-sized riser base (a bottom & two end blocks) from time-to-time, but I do like using a pivoting chassis cradle the best.

The commercial ones are pretty pricey, so I made a stripped-down & simplified version, mostly out of scrap, that probably works nearly as well.

Mine uses just one locking knob on the pivot (no radiused routs) & hasn't been an issue.

I borrowed the length adjustment idea from someone online (not sure who), that uses readily available C-channel made for woodworking jigs for changing the spacing between the ends. One end is fixed & the other end slides in the clamping channel.

A wooden key on the bottom of the adjustable end sits in the channel & keeps it aligned.

Harder to describe than it really is.

Mine is a bit shorter than I would like, but the pieces were in stock. I might make a second longer one at some point.

Thanks for your replies and yes the commercial ones are quite pricey.

There are nice looking amp cradles there. I will have to go down the commercial route as I don’t have wood working tools or an area to do woodwork. The most obvious is I know nothing about woodworking.

I threw this together , basically a copy of the mojo cradle. Scrap pieces of plywood . Works pretty well.

I'm getting 404 errors on anything related to to your site. I remember having this issue in the past, but I can't recall how I got around it.

Wow, sorry to hear you took it down.

It was a great reference, for both visual info (pics), & the related documentation.
