Be kind

In the spirit of getting some clips going ( my first ), and with rj's encouragement, here is a very basic ( done on a power shot ) look at the Supre I built. I promise to get some decent gear to do this at a higher level.

Awesome dude... When i first heard that clip I thought "that is totally raw and pure sounding with no processed feel to it. That gives us all a great idea what the amp sounds like. I hope you get the chance to follow up with a studio quality clip but this tells us a ton about the amp... plus your guitar was tuned, an extra thanks for that!

Is it still the 6L6GC tube?

You have a great variety to tones there, will be curious how you... I mean Marco will like gigging with this amp.

Mmmmm, mmmmm. Damn, that sounds good! Very versatile tones throughout and I love that it feeds back. As RJ said, great tuning (and intonation) on the guitar too. Nice and punchy with great chime.

Has anyone tried a Celestion Blue, a G12H30 Anniversary, or a Greenback (reissue or otherwise) with this amp yet?

Ange, that supre sounds great! I wound up drilling a couple more holes. I added the hole fore the DPDT for the NFB resistor switch. I also added a hole between the two jacks for the loop for a Mixpot adjust. Figured I'll need/want that if I wind up doing the loop.
You mean like a Dumleator loop? Yikes.
No, I am adding a loop from Merlin's preamp design book and will tweak from there. Not too many components unlike a dumble which seems to have 5x too much  8)

Edcor occasionally has different models using different color schemes on the wiring. I have the tranny wiring info for the Edcor trannies I sell, on my web site. For the Edcor EM0791-120 you should find your wiring info at this web link: http://www.rjguitars.net/Digital_Images ... 120_PT.jpg . It's also on the bottom of the tranny which turns out to be a bit inconvenient once you have the tranny mounted.

I haven't got all the tranny diagrams on the web site yet but most of them. Let me know if you need something that isn't on the website or you see anything that looks like a discrepancy with reality.

thanks,

rj

Thanks Mark. I am beginning to understand why these amps were used so often way back in studio sessions.

Cheers A

PS just upped the power cathode cap to 150uf. Subtle but slightly tighter bass.

That sounds great Ange!

Especially when you turned it up, hard to believe that is a single power tube.

Recto confirm please...I ran the two yellow 5V 2A leads to pins 2/8 and the voltage leads from the HV switch to the terminal strip with two diodes going to 4 and 6. I have a single lead coming off 8 to go to the junction of the diodes. I figure the diodes hanging off the side won't matter. Is this wiring all correct? 5y3 recto tube

I think you are wanting to put silicon rectifiers between the HT leads and the vacuum rectifier (banded ends toward the tube) for protection against a short, right? Then you are running pin 8 (the B+) over to the junction of the diode strings on the cap board, which is also connected to the reservoir cap, and the diodes that are on the cap board are not going to be doing anything useful? If so then it looks good to me.

Martin, yes, thx for confirming. The diodes are there so i can just move the hv leads to them if i want to go ss.
