Wow indeed! Seems like I should give this sucker a proper chance then. I actually replaced the caps a while back but I haven't had a chance to try it through a speakercab yet. Did you/your tech check the schematics?

Guess he used the schematics only for a rough overview, but as far as I know he and his colleague didn´t need it in the end due to their longterm experience.
If I were you, I would check the tubes twice, get some others from ebay and match them in the whole circuit.
I bought some of these tubes and huge amount of them simply do not fit from their electrical properties, a lot of measuring and matching would probably do the trick.
I also asked because of the trannies (maybe also an upgrade) and he told me that they are big enough to handle the power output, so no change/upgrade needed.
Considering the sound quality, I really recommend to give it a try!!
