what up yall?

i just finished building a Snow White Auto Wah cloner. This thing is seriously cool, i found the PCB and schematic here

http://revolutiondeux.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... o-wah.html

this was a serious cram job i didnt think it would fit

it takes a couple uncommon items, LM13700 OTA and 1M antilog pot, i order my stompbox stuff from

taydaelectronics.com stupid cheap electronics straight from china.

lucky for me i ordered enough to make two!!! :D

Nice looking pedal.

I always enjoy seeing what you guys have been up to.

Got any clips?

Just getting started into this pedal stuff. My son and I are starting with an AMZ mini Boost. Just got our stuff from Mammoth Thurs.

One quick question - how are the PCBs mounted within enclosures? Is there a typical approach used here? The gut shots here look very impressive (not to mention davent's artwork - "Made in Canada in the basement", what a hoot!), but I am unable to determine how best to secure the "innards".

Most just float on the wires with no firm connection to the enclosure. Always wise to cover the backs of the pots with something non-conductive. Mammoth sells "pot condoms" in a couple of different colors just for that.

Have fun,

You can use some thicker double sided tape.

Put cut pieces on the pots and then stick the board to them.

Some other kit makers have holes drilled in the board and then plastic
standoffs are stuck on the pots, which then snap into the holes.

If the pcb is large i usually J-B Weld a couple aluminum standoffs to the enclosure.

Like others have mentioned, sometimes just floating, sometimes the thick double stick tape to the back of the pote or if room, to the enclosure and even just screws through the enclosure.

lotsa different ways to mount the PCBs as stated in the above posts

i have also just packed styrofoam under, around and on top of them, it works great but not very pretty

ooh or line the box with those sticky foam sheets from the craft barn

and structo

thanks for the compliment, i unfortunately dont have any of my own clips but there are a couple good demos of that effect on the utube and i feel that it is a fairly accurate clone 8) 8)

"Mammoth sells "pot condoms" in a couple of different colors just for that. "

order pots from tayda electronics and they come pre-condomed

(these are called dust seals btw)

Thanks guys. All good ideas.

I'm working with vero board - 1st time build, not a printed circuit, so I've got some room here, if I plan for it ahead of time. I think I'll get some standoffs and JB Weld - epoxy. Something like that.

Excellent work here BTW. 8) These will be Made in New York... in the basement too! Ha ha!

Have mercy, does this little guy have some oomph!

Just finished trying this puppy out. Awesome. Even the wife is impressed. Used an off shore LP copy into the mini Booster, then into a clone 1987 head (channels jumpered) and 4 x 10" cab - my ears are ringing!

A little blatty on the neck pickup, but on the bridge - great. My son tried it out with his Ibanez - EMG 81/85 PUs. Neck PU has more clarity than mine (Duncan Jazz). Definitely a great way to start with effects.

I found soldering the JFETs (J201) isn't too smart, so I got some sockets for them this morning. Still have 8 left over for another few builds.

+1 to floating on the wires. You can also buy double sided tape, cut off a small piece and place on the pots and then press the board down if the wires are not under the board good enough to float it. For that matter depending on enclosure size and height usually you can use this tape and stick the board on the side of the enclosure as well. This is more possible in a 125b or a 1590bb Tall.
