It's not really meant for the design you posted, but take a look at the OT5PP here: http://www.musicalpowersupplies.com/3.html
IMO, it opens up a wide range of possibilities for a triode amp.

Hey Freq! Sorry I never could get around to finishing my little HV SMPS, but perhaps over the summer I will have more time to do so. I found a big bug in my design that I have to fix before I can actually release the design. I'm thinking of spending some money to have a panel of PCB's made so that guys like you can buy them on the cheap and not have to breadboard up SMPS circuits. Your builds are looking great as always

Hey Cliff - good to see you here! You've been quiet recently at DIYSB. I've stepped up from the 555 smps into MAX1771 smps now - big difference! More volts, more current, more stable, less heat. Very nice. Since I posted that amp schematic this morning I've modified it considerably, loudest damn 'fakey-no-PT' amp I've worked on.......

Well thanks for all the help guys! Sheesh! I thought you guys knew about amps?
Re: "Obsession" miniature amp - evaluate my schematic?
Rick we kinda like em big here.
Sorry buddy.
Don't have much to offer, but wouldn't you want a grid stopper on your output triode there?

Reactionary conservative elitists huh? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?ChrisM wrote:Rick we kinda like em big here.Sorry buddy.

I've already added a grid stopper there, as well as supplying B+ to the 12AX7 and 12AU7 from seperate nodes, but thanks anyway.

"Reactionary conservative elitists huh? Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'll stick with being innovative thanks. Surely an amp is an amp is an amp?"
Someone pee is your coffee this morning?
As for being innovative--I haven't seen much innovation from your "designs." All I see are blind attempts at hacking together common circuits and praying that it works.
How's that for attitude?

When a guy like me is making blind attempts at hacking together common circuits and praying that it works and asks for help, to offer no help when you are in a position to do so would appear (at least to me) to be elitist.

Re: "Obsession" miniature amp - evaluate my schematic?
Now, FC...
You're asking the 'elitist' for help here, an i for one count you among them.
I support Jana here; something strange in your coffee this morning i think...
I've followed your designs for small amps for a while, and i think they're excellent. I have a couple of friends which would literally kill for one of those, and they're the kindest souls i know...
Had i the know-how, i would help, but now you have even deleted your first post...

"What happened?"
Oh, nothing much. Junior designed a new amp and needed help before it went into production. When no one responded immediately he got peeved, took his marbles and went home.
Now we are all reactionary conservative elitists.

Aww, Freq is a great guy and has done a lot of stuff over at DIYSB. He may not be the most technically minded person but he has done some cool stuff and has helped a lot of others out as well whenever possible. His "production" amps are simply him trying to fund a hobby, he's not trying to make a living selling those cool little sub-mini amps. I feel bad that he got off on the wrong leg here, I think a lot of people come around simply to learn more from the "higher ups" and there is nothing wrong with that.

How dissapointing.. I was hoping that this thread was be a learning experience. I haven't had much success with small amps yet.frequencycentral wrote:.....
