What to do with this old Marshall/Peavey...

I recently acquired a Marshall JCM900 SL-X 50 watt head in a non-funtional state. It cost me next to nothing, I spent a short time getting it up and running, but I really don't care for how it sounds and there's still an intermittent crackling fault somewhere. As it stands I wouldn't want to sell it and pass along a fault to the next guy so I'm currently looking on it as a donor for something more interesting.

My question is what to do with it/build from it? Suggestions?

If you figure out the intermittent problem you could sell it for around $500. You could get 2 or 3 decent donor amps for that much.

Not around here in the current climate... £250/$400 tops, but i take your point.

I also have a Peavey Encore 65 combo - same question. What would you build with it? The PCB is warped from years sitting in a damp shed, the speaker is gone. The transformers check out ok (5k OT with 2 and 4ohm taps) and the chassis is remarkably rust free... They sell for buttons used so not worth fixing this one up.
