Dirty Dawg Falls on Hard Times
Today I went to get some aluminum channel to make amp chassis, and when I got back, I decided to check Dirty Dawg's prices, to see if it was time to start using normal boxes like everyone else.
Maybe this is old news, but it looks like their facility burned down.

Is anyone else making boxes for similar prices?
It's too bad he didn't put up a Paypal link and ask for help.

Relax. It's SUPPOSED to smoke a little.

Maybe it wasn't an accident. When I get tired of doing something it usually meets an odd demise.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Yes, old news. No damage to persons, I hear.
I like blank chassis from http://www.turretboards.com

On AX84, the guy over Dirty Dawg mentioned that he is probably going to start building chassisses (that's the plural, right) again in the future. Whether that's near or distant future, I don't know.

Sorry for being out of the loop (how unusual).
That's probably not a bad business to get into. A new brake runs about $1400 on Grizzly's site. I'll bet a lot of people would have chipped in twenty or thirty bucks if he had asked for help.
I bought two pieces of channel today, 21" long, and they ran me $24 each. I wish the Chinese would calm down and quit building so much so metal prices would drop.

Yep. I bought one of these when I was up there a couple weeks ago. I just couldn't pass it up...Of course, I've nothing to BUILD in it (and I refuse to use it for my little single-ended jobbie). Right now it's a collection bin of parts.xtian wrote:Best bargain on the planet is Weber's predrilled 6mX chassis: http://taweber.powweb.com/store/chassis/chord2.html

Anybody had direct contact with Mr. Dawg?

Not direct contact, but in this thread, he (Brian S) say's that he and Mrs. Dawg want to have it back up and running at the start of 2015. It's a little ways out, but it's something.Structo wrote:Anybody had direct contact with Mr. Dawg?

Re: Dirty Dawg Falls on Hard Times
LOL, I think it's "chasses." Oddball English word that is both singular and plural. Another doesn't readily come to mind. So, Google says:morcey2 wrote:...chassisses (that's the plural, right)
moose
fish
deer
aircraft
you
pants
shorts
eyeglasses
scissors
species
offspring
...just to list a few. Some words that are both singular and plural are called defective nouns because they have no plural form. Others like sheep and fish are irregular plurals. I suppose we have "fishes" but that really isn't a proper word and eyeglass (monocle?) which isn't used. Some things are even more bizarre, like scissors and underpants -- we refer to these as a "pair of scissors" or a "pair of underwear" even though it is a single item. Imagine teaching this to an non-native speaker of English! Sorry to diverge. Carry on.
Re: Dirty Dawg Falls on Hard Times
nah, it's chassis'.
I think anytime a word ends in an S, then an apostrophe is used to show the plural.
But I'm sure somebody will correct me.

I was joking about chasses. <not an obvious joke apparently> Note that I noted, it is singular and plural. No apostrophe. While not considered definitive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChassisStructo wrote:nah, it's chassis'.

If you guys want to chip in...my CNC router spontaneously combusted last week...burst into flames...don't worry...nothing else was damaged.
$20 or $30 towards a new one would be great. I'll get the paypal set up.
