Not to bust your bubble, but a great amp would not use those Gray cased IC brand power supply filters!
chances are than within 8 years they will leaking out the positive end and all the while before that letting ghost notes come thru at high volume levels.

Its not writen in stone, as the more the amp in question gets used the longer the caps will last.
That being said, over just this winter I repaired 3 Fender hot rod deluxe amps with these brand filters in them and they where all leaking and none of the amps was over 9 years old.

Illinois caps had a period of high failure rates some time back, but they seem to have fixed their issue. Bad electrolyte, was it? I know some here have been using them with success for some time, and of course there are still others that will claim that they don't sound as good as other brands. One thing I'm pretty sure of though, is that Mike Zaite knows what he is about.

Nothing wrong with IC caps where did all this IC cap bashing come from anyway. Many top amp builders use IC e-caps including myself a humble little amp builder.
