Why is this Hammond labeled this way?

Post by Smokebreak »

I've got a Hammond 1750U I'm about to use. Here's the datasheet :
http://www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/EDB1750U.pdf

Looking at the data, white is CT, blue and red are plates.

So why does the top of the transformer read "blue-red-white", when every other hammond (I've used) reads "Plate-CT-Plate"?
Here's the 50W version : http://www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/EDB1750N.pdf

To further cloud the issue, I've found a presumably older pic of the same 1750U that is labeled as I'm accustomed to seeing : http://www.tubesandmore.com/sites/defau ... t1750u.png

The data sheet seems to be incorrect.

The photo shows Blue-White-Red on the label at the top.

At the bottom left of the data sheet the diagram show Blue-White-Red.

The fifty watt version says Blue-White-Red.

Classic Tone transformers show Blue-White-Red.

The label on the drawing is showing Blue-Red-White and it is incorrect.

Contact Hammond with your question. I think we'd like to know what they say. I believe they will answer you.

Have you read the resistances of the leads? Either side to CT will be half of side to side. CT should be straightforward to determine.

Thanks guys. Zippy, measuring confirmed white is CT.
Danotron, good deductive reasoning! Phil, I just got off the phone with Hammond and the rep went "ooooohhhhh" . He was quite nice and also quite concerned about my actual label, which is correct. I think he freaked for a second and thought they may have shipped some with the same incorrect labels as the data sheet . He said they'd get the data sheet fixed.
