Best Solder Spool Ever!

Post by dorrisant »

Just kidding... Although it does amuse me and works perfectly! 20GA for reference.

Anyone care to share some ideas?

I'm always looking to use or re-use something, thinking green. Example - We save all clear plastic jars with lids. Put all of the screws and related stuff in one and keep it with the amp on the shelf while waiting for parts... Or use them as a "pedal egg" to collect all the parts together for a pedal build...

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Empty prescription bottles, tic-tac containers, even those kester pocket pack solder tubes. I also started keeping guitar picks in an empty cigarette pack in my jacket just in case.
As far as spools go, I bought a bag of 2.5" spools in an attempt to get all of my wire organized a few months ago and I couldn't for the life of me find a way to keep the wire from becoming an unraveled mess, short of buying a spooling machine.
So if anyone has any suggestions, I too am all ears! :)

Small 'lazy susan' bearing i had and a piece of non-slip drawer liner. Not sure how much solder i'll use before gravity will loose to the sideways pull of spooling solder but o far so good.
