Type 3 MV on a paraphrase amp

Post by angelodp »

Any issues with trying a Type 3 MV on a 6V6 PP paraphase type amp?

schematic?

I used a dual ganged post pi mv in a Supro-ish circuit with great results.
The amp is now owned by a dutch guitarhero.

Have fun!

just give it a try to see if YOU like it

[not a big fan of type 3 in most amps]

I happen to be working on a paraphase PI amp w/ 6V6, so I stuck both the type 3 and the PPIMV. If youre looking for cranked amp sounds, they were both pretty bad in this amp(kinda a TK Imperial deal), with the type 3 being worse.
If you're looking to just knock a lil vol off , they both were ok, and I preferred the PPIMV overall

Hi, so your amp is a paraphase type and you preferred the PPIMV, not surprised. I have PPIMV on my Rocket Reverb and quite like it. I also have the VVR but seldom use it. Did you follow the Trainwreck recipe?

Honestly, the only MV I'm ever really fond of is the normal master in a Marshall type setup.
But I had a Tone King Imperial come in the other day, and was pretty amazed at how darn good it sounded. Of course those have the built in attenuator thing. It worked very very well.
I built the (lead only) circuit up in an old deluxe reverb project I had around, and have been experimenting with different MV arrangements for it. None were as good as the attenuator action
