Output transformer for fender reverb unit RI

Post by dinkotom »

My 90's fender reverb unit doesn't have reverb anymore, only dry signal. I checked the tank, looks good, swapped tubes, didn't help, so I'm taking it to service.
So, just in case I'd need an output transformer, which one would you recommend?
I found this one, it says it's for 6g15, but I'd like to know for sure, if anyone has experience with it:

I trust Hammond. I'd use that 1750AX for a 6g15. Specs look good.

It's not a output transformer, it's a driver transformer, it drive's the input side of the tank and it's kinda rare that they go open.

My bet is on the tank.
Even if the input side of the tank is open or you have a open driver trans, or if there's a problem in the circuit on the input side of the tank like no B+ going to the driver trans you will still hear the springs crash on the output side of the unit if.
1) the output side of the tank is not open.

2) the tubes on the output side of the tank are good.

3) the blend control is set right.

Thanks guys. If tank is the problem, is this one a correct replacement?

Yes, that’s the needed type 4, the correct input and output impedance and the correct size.

Well, it was the transformer after all. My tech installed reverb transformer from Twin reverb, it works now, sounds good, but I'm not sure if that's OK in the long run. What do you guys think?

That's not good! Didn't your tech notice how much smaller the twin reverb transformer is when compared to the 6G15 transformer? Power capacity too small and primary impedance is too high. It's just wrong.

That 1750AX is the correct choice for a 6g15. Even an OT for a Fender Champ 5E1 would be a good choice.
