2024 Monkeymatic Black Butte (Terecorder 900)

Post by xtian »

I modded this for guitar, and it sounds great until distortion creeps in--nice distortion, but way too much low end--it gets woofy and clogged (but not cut-off). Modified schematic attached. Where's best to remove low end? My first guess is, replace C10 (10n) with 1n or even 470p. Next, maybe C5 (10n) with 1n or 470p.

OK! Much better now, and no wonder, because C10 did not measure as any kind of capacitance at all! Replaced C5 and C10 with 1n caps. Very good. Happy little Champ-style thing, with 8" Jensen speaker.

Good job Xtian. I like seeing your re-imagining circuits and upcycling of trash to treasure.
