In the schematic that I posted it shows a switch to cut the diode pack out of the circuit.

The amp I am working on is a mid 80s model and does not have that switch.

Was this switch on my 50 watt model used early on, or in latter production models?

The notes on the schematic Mark posted say that the switched version is a different model (L100R) that the unswitched version (L100). So, if you trust the person who put that together, it's not an early/late change, but that it's a different amp.
