My DIY Mark IIc+ preamp

Post by bancika »

I know this isn't dumble/wreck related but IIc+ has been hyped about the same as these so there may be interest here :) Anyways, I finished it last week and recorded a couple of quick clips. These are not the best it can do as they are recorded day one and I'm still experimenting with tones.
It's preamp only, no complicated switching, two channels, EQ or other nonsense :) Made a couple mods, you can find them, schematic and other info on my site http://diy-fever.com/amps/mesa-mark-iic-preamp/

For clips I used RG2550 with crunch lab/evo single/liquifire pickups -> preamp -> mxr 6 band eq -> boss dd-20 -> palmer pdi-09 -> boss micro br. Lead clips have a touch of reverb added with the BR.

Posted another clip on youtube so I thought I'd share

Also, for people wanting to build a IIc+ preamp, I drew a PCB layout. It's single sided, home etch friendly version and I kept the clean channel from the original. Switching is done with relays. You can use 12ax7 with either 12.6 or 6.3V heaters or even 6N2P. Daughter board is used for pots so if you want to use pots with lugs you can just ditch it.

I verified it only on paper, I hope to built the thing in a week or two.

Bane
