+1 on the Benson
His version of Masquerade is mighty tastey.
Freddy King - Woman Across the River and Palace of the King. Super bright guitar tone, but very expressive. I wouldn't even know how to play with that tone, but he sure gets his point across.
I recently got into Jerry Reed. There is a YouTube video of "Jerry's Breakdown" with Chet Atkins. Impressive stuff. No wonder Mr. Atkins made him a CGP. I gotta find some of his vinyl so I can dig into the b-side stuff.

Anyone knows female guitarists ? Probably everyone heard about Bonnie and Ana Popovic (she's soooooo damn hot )

Check out Orianthi. She's a great player and very easy on the eyes. She even has a signature PRS.wicker wrote:Anyone knows female guitarists ?
Here's a straight up rock video (read: a bit cheesy) with the usual over-the-top Steve Vai-isms. You gotta love Steve though and there's no arguing with the technique of either player.

Music is an expression of the inexpressable ~ Vernon Reid, Musician.

How about any of the work that Jennifer Turner did on Natalie Merchants "Tiger Lilly" album. I really dig that super warm, lightly fuzzy tone on that album. I believe she used a PRS and a Marshall when she did the SNL show following release. On of my favorite albums.wicker wrote:Anyone knows female guitarists ? Re: Favorite guitar solo?
Last Time by the Stones has a nice solo -- it fits nicely with the main riff.
Re: Favorite guitar solo?
Me too. I always lopped off the front of the tune when we do it, and just go for the fun part.brewdude wrote:I was thinking the same thing when I read the subject.rdjones wrote:"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" by The Stones.
Love that tone.

Page's solo on the LZ_3 album version of "Since I've Been Loving You"
Re: Favorite guitar solo?
Larry Carlton - Mulberry Street, Room 335, 10:00 pm, and many others.
The Hellecasters - Le Journee des Tziganes
Eric Johnson - Trademark
Marc Bonilla - Slaughter on Memory Lane
Robben Ford - Step On It, Tell Me I'm Your Man
Mike Stern - Swunk
Wow, impossible to say one. And this list is far from complete.

Re: Favorite guitar solo?
Terry Kath's solo in 25 or 6 to 4. My favorite use of wah of all time.
Intro to Reeling in the Years. Superb tone, and the playing isn't too bad either!
... any note played by Derek Trucks.

Here to learn.

+1 for Derek...I've seen him 5 times in the last few years with Eric, the Allmans, and His wife Susan and every show he just absolutely kills it. Knows how to build a great solo!zippybutton wrote:Terry Kath's solo in 25 or 6 to 4. My favorite use of wah of all time.

I transcribed that, uploaded it to Ultimate Guitar website, been mega downloads of it. You'll need guitar pro or tux guitar to view it.HeeBGB wrote:<snip>

There's plenty more but I will have to stop here for now.
Yeah I know, the things we do on winter nights
awesome solo
Joe Walsh on "You're gonna need me" From James Gang's. Live in concert. Stunning solo with one of the best uses of the echoplex and wah ever.
