Good God...yep, index cards in the library...I remember it well.

Now you can Google just about anything it seems, which is both a blessing and a curse in some instances! LOL

The index cards were/are far superior to google/search engine because when you search you are not side tracked and led off to porn. Try it. Search anything click pictures by page 30 it's giving hits of porn. It's a mixed blessing. Lol

I think you're on to something there. My family lives on the west coast now, but I grew up in the south.

I went to a parent/teacher conference where the teacher asked, "You guys aren't originally from the west coast, right?"

She then told us our kids were too polite to have grown up here, that they used 'please' and 'thank you.

I love that.

Here is my rant. I love the beach. I go to the Texas coast all the time to fish, fly stunt kites, consume adult beverages, gawk at bikinis. The crap people leave on the beach for the rest of us to enjoy is damn amazing. Huge mounds of beer cans and bottles, used diapers, broken crap, shoes. The options are endless. Some of it washes off of ships of course but most of it is left by very inconsiderate and irresponsible assholes. I wonder if they treat their own yard that way and the answer is most likely. The world has a bunch of people that really need to grow up. It is common sense to pick up after yourself.........or it should be.

I don't have enough fingers or toes to count the times I've seen people 30ft or less from a garbage can in a public place leave used shitty diapers on the ground. It's so gross!!! I could say who does it or I'd be being racist. However, It must be a cultural thing because I sure don't understand the thought process behind doing it. It wasn't how I was raised. Having done the kid thing, even in the moment of the worst explosion of poop it never once crossed my mind to drop it on the ground.

Dirty people might be worse then stupid people. At least stupid people have an excuse.. they are stupid.

This would curve litter. you have to eat what you drop. problem solved. not a mistake you make twice.

Since we're talking common sense or lack of...Why do people persist in using the left hand passing lane of the highway to drive slowly, next to other cars, and to generally block traffic flow? Then when you finally have a chance to pass them on the right they speed up? WTF? Did I say WTF? I mean come on, WTF? Somtimes I wish I could punt them like they do in Nascar.

Because they are usually jabbering mindlessly on the godd@mn phone with that vacant doe-eyed stare...or worse texting! :x Cell phones and reality TV are the new opiate for the masses. People are hyper-ADD with the constant need for stimulus (did someone text me yet? How bout now? Now?). It makes me pretty ill to consider that this is how we (Americans) might be perceived globally :(

Why the fuck is it so hard for people who chose to use a shopping cart to put it back in the cart collector rack when they are finished?
A. Seriously. Entitled, lazy, and rude.

B. Seriously? Entitled, rude, and lazy.

I try to ignore people so I don't draw all the ire, but one day we are going to snap, and go back to society not putting up with whiney shit from the cart leavers. Mostly bullies too, huh?

All that said, I am going to suck it up and ask for a teaching moment in on the tech board. I'll put the cart back when I am finished though, swear!

I think that one word sums it up.

ENTITLEMENT!

Why should I wait my turn? Entitlement!

Why should I have to pay for that service? Entitlement!

Why shouldn't I drive in the left lane whenever I want? Entitlement!

Why shouldn't I listen to my stereo playing rap at 140db while waiting for a traffic light? Entitlement! Idiot!

Why shouldn't I talk on my cell phone while in the checkout line? Entitlement! Rude!

Why shouldn't I run a red light, there was nobody there? Entitlement!

Why should I have to pay for a song when I down load it? Entitlement! Thief!

Why shouldn't I swear left before making a right hand turn? Idiot!

Why shouldn't I use my turn signal? Because you are too busy talking on your cell phone which is illegal in this state!

Do you ever just plain hate people? As in the whole human race? :x

what I don't understand... Regarding shopping carts.

Canada lets you rent a shopping cart for a loonie,loony,loon..e (a dollar) then when you return the cart the machine gives you back your dollar. guess what no carts are left a stray. even if you feel entitled someone else feels like a free dollar.

same sort of setup at airports I've never seen a cart just chilling in a concourse.

why can't we have this same system?

Hell man, in China the kids walk around with pants that have a hole in them. You'll see little kids squat down and shit or pee right on the sidewalk.

The whole left lane thing must be from somewhere else. All that was ever said about it in the "rules of the road" book I had back when I got my license just said that if you were going slower than everyone else to stay in the right lane. Otherwise left or right were acceptable.

All that being said, I've seen people go flying by way above the speed limit in the left lane, and well above anyone else. People like that make me want to drive in the left lane and go the limit by another car...

I don't even know how to respond to that nonsense. I take it you are part of the problem.

Atlanta makes me think like that. When the posted limit is 75 why the hell do you need to go 100? Why the hell do you ever need to go 100 at that... If you truly think that someone needs to do that then you instead would be part of the problem. Its the "I need to be there now because I am the most important person ever" attitude that people have that leads to these speed demons on the highway.

I remember seeing some videos a few years back of some high school kids going the speed limit in all of the lanes on the bypass near Atlanta. The way that everyone else reacted was stupid. A number of idiots decided to pass 4 lanes of traffic by veering into oncoming traffic.

When I lived in Hot Lanta in the mid seventies, you HAD to drive fast to keep from getting rear-ended.
