Sheesh, were you here? The dad was threatening to beat the kids if they stayed with Grandma. I had a talk with the 13 year old girl the night before they left. The things she told me would have made me punch my dad in the nutsack, especially if he'd been out of work, doing drugs, and they were living on food stamps and other people's garage since she was in 3rd grade.JazzGuitarGimp wrote:Reminds me of the battered wife / girlfriend syndrome: Woman calls the police "my boyfriend has threatened to kill me." "Has he physically harmed you?" "Not yet." "Well, we can't arrest him until he's done the deed. So call us back when you're dead."
When they were leaving she took her suitcase to the relative's truck that was taking them to the bus station, and when she walked back she saw me and gave me a hug. I told her "I know this isn't what you wanted. Good luck."
She hugged me harder, then her grandma and left.
Her grandma said the police said "If he beats you, call us. We'll get you back to your grandma."
The question is if the 70 year old grandma can raise her till she's 18, and in what shape the kid will be in if she can call. The whole situation is stupid.
