My pedalboard developed a buzz. I traced it to a single DC outlet of my ModTone Power Plant. Measured 0.1vAC ripple. Damn. Not under warranty. Always happy to have new and better gear, and the TrueTone CS12 looks perfect, but it's $179.
So I popped the cover, and found the board to be uncluttered and simple to suss. Set up multimeter to show AC ripple while I hand-applied a new cap to the back of the board--bingo! Ripple vanished.
All hail geekery and DIY. Saved $179 today.

Nicely done! 
A few years ago I fixed my furnace with parts on hand. The motor start cap had gone south and I happened to have an extra of the right size laying around from my rotary phase converter build. I felt like such a badass that day.
