I am well, Enjoying retirement. But I still seem to be working on amps! But only vintage ones now .
Been gigging more too !
Just rebuilt and modded an old HH Scott hifi tube integrated, 233. Came out really good. Now that was fun.
Gigged with my old Gibson 79RVT last night. The Tremolo is almost as good as a Magnatone.
I'm pleased you are enjoying retirement Z. Learned a lot from you here for which I'm grateful.
Listening - Kevin Ayers- Whatever she brings we sing. Then Joy of a Toy.
Lucas Nelson and Promise of the Real, with Nikki Bluhm opening. Last night at Sierra Nevada Big Room. Best show I've seen in several years. Nikki opened a capella--she's an angel. Lucas opened by himself on acoustic and sang three covers, Clapton's If I Could Change The World, and Something by George Harrison--so dynamic and nuanced, and his Martin sounded wonderful. But THAT VOICE, so much like his poppa, and absolutely wonderful. Lucas is totally in command of his talents. Then the band joined--good musicians, nothing flashy, except for the out of place bass solo... good songs, loudest show I've seen in that venue. Lucas plays Les Paul Juniors exclusively, which cracks me up, because the tone matches his voice. He's a very good lead player.
Highlight: Lucas and Nikki singing Crazy, accompanied by piano and lap steel. Sublime.

Google will take you to his web site, YouTube videos, etc.
One of the young generation who has almost never even played through a real amp. Yet, he manages to get some great tones, and his compositions and playing are superb.

We are still talking about Lucas Nelson, right? At the show he played a pair of modern 1x12 Magnatone combos, turned up loud. Plugged his Les Paul Juniors directly into amps (sounded like, no FX visible) and managed his volume capably with the guitar only. Brilliant, clear, and angry. I was impressed.

I've been listening to this band Earthless from San Diego. They are just wonderful to me. Just fun to hear a band play together without any strings holding them in place.
