What do you think of the Fender Jack White Pano Verb amp?
I have heard a couple of You Tube recordings and I don’t know what to make of it. Perhaps you need to play this amp to get it. I understand pairing the 15” speaker with a 10” speaker as SRV more or less did that with two amps. I have played vintage Vibro Verb amps and the 15” speaker does make a Strat sound fat, but it doesn’t have the chime.
I’m not a Jack White fan, but there are songs of his that I like. Has anyone played one?
The thing has seven 12AX7’s, a 12AT7 and a pair of 6L6’s and 6V6’s. The backend of the amp is said to be stereo.
I figured the 12AT7 has to drive the reverb spring, and two of the 12AX7’s have to be P.I. stages, the harmonic tremolo uses two and a half 12AX7’s, the preamp uses one 12AX7, there is a boost which is probably the remaining half of the triode from the tremolo. The remaining 12AX7 is possibly used on the reverb. One triode is the reverb spring return stage and the other is the dry/wet mixing stage.
That is how I think the amp is set up, but I could be wrong.

I listened to a couple of 2024 live recordings of Jack White and it just didn’t do it for me. Something is missing.

Marketing is more important than the product. Less is more...

Mostly, whatever. But happy to see Fender innovating in the “classic” realm. And I love the dramatic color scheme.

Interesting amp, cool they are doing something different.
I really like the first few White stripes albums. I am fairly sure "his" sound for the early years was an Airline res-o-glass guitar (only neck pickup working) > Muff > Silvertone 1484.
It's not a mind blowing song but I love The big three killed my baby.

I was surprised that he was popular enough for a signature guitar and amp. I’m wondering which demographic is his audience?
Also does he have any recent material worth a listen?

Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

There is always a stand alone unit. I had thought of building one, but it turned out I liked the plate reverb in an effects unit.Reeltarded wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 3:58 am Hah

Nice to see Fender doing another tube amp design.
I like the old Jenson speakers.
Its a different sound that's for sure.
Very glassy sounding but that seems to be Jack White's style and he seems to make it work well.
She is a heavy one at 61lbs, but he never needs to worry about moving it lol.

Stand alone just isn't for me. I load my amps so the reverb is there but I wish it was in the head so I could move my rig without a truck. hah

Stand alone reverb has its charm, but it’s susceptible to vibration and heaven help you if you bump into the thing.Reeltarded wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 9:18 pmMark wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 10:54 amThere is always a stand alone unit. It is mostly the patch point. Distorted reverb. Ewww

Yeah, I HATE distorted reverb too. Awful sound.

I build this tube harmonic tremolo/reverb/delay awhile back as a standalone. Was a lot of fun.

Around the 3 minute mark i dig into the delay bit.
