Tonex useful captures

That is perfect. I would take it to a studio but not to be my AC30.

The software should have multiple source inputs to cap whole amp and DI at the same time. The initial file is tiny and the processing can be done later or in the background..

Still shopping for laptops. Never sure about laptops until the conflicts start, so.. taking that slowly.

Discovery. Neural IR loader has 3 rooms built in. Stunning. The 1 is intimate booth around the mic. Dimension that nothing else has gotten right. I have a lot of experiments to do.

Magic Dust captures.

Your Cambridge Reverb capture has become my favorite clean to pair with most of my favorite driven sounds. It has dimension like the Bassman caps, but it's very wide and balanced. It's excellent! Default settings with G12/75s.

I got older since last post.

Tonenet "TSR" (it's two cods from YT "The Studio Rats". Well, I dunno about that, but they tossed out a wicked 800 series Marshall that sounds correct, and it is a top 5-10% example. Unfortunately, capped with cabinet, but removal of cabinet WORKS with this cap and using G12/75s. Like WORKS.

This thing is great. userid: tonexcellence. This amp proved the underdrive theory. Leave all controls default and set gain to 2. Amazing.

This is a little uncomfortable. Amplified Nation ODSR. This guy apparently knows how to get a sound and how to capture a sound. This is same as above, but sweeter and just a bit better.. my favorite dirty amp out of too many to count. Again, set gain 2 and play with any comfortable volume. Larry Carlton wishes. Damn.. that is a great amp. you Tay!

I am still looking for a clean that takes a lot of pick and remains similar. It might be a JC120 with an LA3 but that requires a capture and not setup to do that rtnw.

After years (many) of analog I would like to get a culture of digital but for me, despite the efforts, it is still an unreachable world.

First of all thank you, because you are among the very few who write about TONEX and I invite you to continue....indeed.. I hope it becomes a regular column on TAG but.....please do not make it a place only for insiders, when you use neologisms or definitions please explain their meaning, only in this way I, with little knowledge but with a lot of good will, will be able to follow you, and I would like it with all my heart.

What can I help you with, Franco?

What type instruments are you playing into it and what are you monitoring the Tonex with?

Tonex user Keemosawbe has a few free sounds on tonenet site that you should try because they are amps that compare to the types we build most here, historically. Most of them are without cabinets so they play extremely well with amps you know best, maybe.

Let me know what you need help understanding and we will get that worked out!

Thank you for the very quick reply.

I play guitar (mainly) and bass, I could say in an amateur way, even though I have played several times in dance halls or pubs.

I came to TAG because I build amplifiers, some Fender clones, Trainwreck, Hiwatt, Matchless, and especially Dumble, obviously this hobby is done for passion and to learn why things sound that way.

After the last group was disbanded I decided to "go it alone" and I started the digital adventure, Aeros looper, Eventide H90 Effects and, after a few steps, the TONEX platform.
The sound comes out of an Electrovoice Everse 8 or two small JS boxes.

The first problem was the sound itself, which through the Everse was too full of highs that I had to set to -6db, it goes better with the small JS but we are not there yet.
The models that are loaded on the TONEX do not sound like in the examples, not even the purchased ones. What can I do?

It is really a huge effort to remember the functions of all these devices and I lack the vocabulary of terms that you use and I hope that on TAG a column dedicated to TONEX will open on a par with those dedicated to the famous amplifier brands that I mentioned.

Thanks for any help you can give me, in the meantime I'll read everything that's been written so far.

Tonex One?


I need to write up a list, but first thing do this.

With whatever instrument you are playing at the time, hold down the little mode button that lights up when the pedal is on for longer than six seconds. Everything will blink then the three knobs at the top are in a global setup mode.

Global Setup Mode
Hold the ALT button for six seconds to enter global setup mode. Dual Mode and Stomp Mode Turn the Bass knob fully counterclockwise to select dual mode. Turn the Bass knob fully clockwise to select stomp mode.

Cabinet Bypass if playing through full range speakers use the cabinet models

Turn the Mid knob fully counterclockwise to activate the speaker cabinet model on all presets.

Turn the Mid knob fully clockwise to bypass the cab on all presets.

Input Trim just very slightly above 12 position ^ gets the captures to sound as they did from the original sources. 2-3 is ok for more push, but if you get red light it's way too hot.

Use the Treble knob to set your guitar’s input level. The knob’s LED will glow green to indicate signal strength; if it turns red, that’s clipping, so turn it down.

Global Volume

While in global setup mode, the main knob sets global volume rather than Tone Model amplifier gain.

If you use your stage monitors for playback, hook your computer up to that system and setup your sounds in the Tonex software. You look up in the top left corner. There is a window that you click on the right side of to save and rename a preset.

In the left side pane you should make a new folder to put your gig presets in. They are made, saved and named in that top left window, and select your new folder as the target for saves.

Now you have the sounds tweaked, but they are not on your device. At the top in the middle of the page go to the librarian page. While in that page, select your new folder with your new saved presets. The list is shown and you drag them into the Tonex in whaever order you want them.

They should sound from the pedal very closely to how they did from the computer.

You may already do this setup. It is the only way to disable the problematic DEPTH making too much lowend and to access PRESENCE on the Tonex One.

If you have a problem maybe now with this process we can discover something that fixes it.

I finished surfing sounds and decided that using three to six banks is all I will really return to. I don't use any factory captures now.

Keemosawbe, Stelligan, and Chris Tones cover pretty much all bases. My TX One is all Stelligan captures with various treatments. MAN I LOVE THAT CAMBRIDGE and the modified Bassman with a little shove through a Leslie is superfantastic!!

Working at Kaiser still... Moved to the company side. Took tools home (holy crap that was a huge box!). Not allowed to use them anymore. Have my own office now. Better hours, way better pay. I've been playing the JM Sig (John Mayer Pack, #1 most downloaded) on both ToneX Pedal and One into Mooer Audiofile. So my latest pedalboard splits to stereo at a Keeley Rotary (OMG!!) into H9 then to ToneXes, etc.. Such a beautiful sound and can't beat the convenience or room volume. I think I have all of the caps linked in this thread. Starting to have a lot of fun with these things!
