CNC cut plywood to drawing?

Post by nuke »

I'm trying to restore or duplicate a 1959 Magnatone 260 amp cabinet. I have all the pieces of it, but it sat in water something in the distant past before I got it.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to have plywood cut to drawing? I need a few panels done, the bottom is about 25-3/4 x 9 x 5/8 and the sides are about the same in 3/4", plus some light trim pieces that I may be able to make myself.

I looked at Send-Cut-Send, but they don't appear to offer to cut plywood in that thick of a size.

Maybe try a local cabinetmaker?

I haven’t much luck with that locally. I’ve inquired with a few but always got a resounding “no, not set up for that. “

Maybe see if I can find a skilled hobbyist locally. Might drive up to Woodcraft and see if they know anyone.

It is a very simple cabinet, but it exceeds the precision cuts that my lack of skills and tools can do. Most sophisticated tool I own is a job site table saw. Someone with mad skillz might be able to, but I don’t have strong wood working skills.

Try searching FB Marketplace. You should be able to find someone who will do it for you. I just looked for "CNC" purposely keeping it simple because the FB algorithm isn't very good. Ignore the machines for sale and you'll find what you need. There will be just a few. Here's what I found in 30 seconds:

These guys make DIY flatpacks of several cabinet designs, primarily for bass I think, but might do custom work too..?

Another thought...if there is a makerspace in your community and they have a CNC, you may be able to find someone there to help you.
