Tariffs on electronic parts

Post by martin manning »

Placed a Mouser order today. Most line items are showing an estimated tariff of 10-30%. Overall the hit is 15% of the order total. :^\

About the same @ Digikey. I hate that "tariff tax" is now a new facet I have to consider when selecting which parts I'm comfortable buying. I've been making different choices just based on what I can get without paying a tariff on it, which is silly and not how anyone should build circuits. It'll be nice when all of this settles back down, if ever.

As does everything. There are wars over trade. There's an old saying that warns of breaking another man's ricebowl.
The current attempt to realign the trade balance between the two largest economies will shake the net and have far reaching, and many unforseen consequences. Being so interconnected and interdependent, it will reshape economies for all countries to some degree. Increased prices of formerly cheap goods will result in a higher cost of living for sure. Even if countries restart domestic production, prices won't drop back, due to higher wages and environmental and regulatory costs. We are truly living in interesting times.

If this is directed at me, I do yoga, (and meditation).
But i see my blathering may have been misconstrued.
I was just considering the impact on my situation and realized it will affect more than amp construction. For many of us
I'm a married grandfather with six wonderful grands. What's not to be happy about? I have a positive outlook and an overdeveloped sense of humor. I think I'm pretty balanced in the practice that you should pray for the best and plan for the less than optimal.
I'll probably not post after three expressos though, prolly.
