Well, he's the best guitar teacher type player out there.

I dunno what to say without saying said stuff. So.

Look! An owl!

I didn't used to like JB, but I allowed myself to tolerate him for a while and now I actually respect him, he's just a nerd who likes playing guitar.

He'll be the first to admit where he stole his chops from, not like it's hard to tell, but hopefully some of the young bloods will get some learnin' on where it came from. He's like an encyclopedia that way, on gear too.

The dude works his ass of and never got much label help, he plays guitars that would otherwise sit in some closet or vault somewhere. I would say that my impression of him is that he isn't perpetually dissatisfied with his current tone, but that he is a gear nerd, and when you're professional it's all tax write-offs. Better than money in the bank, or cars or paintings.

Not the biggest fan of most of his stuff, but I gotta say Rock Candy Funk Party is pretty good stuff, and his chops on some of it might change some minds if you've only heard his cliché overproduced blues rock stuff. I also appreciate that he switched to pauls, started wearing suits and moved away from people looking for SRV's heir apparent by lumping him and all the other child blues prodigies together.

I like his music and that he is such a gear nerd.

I like him even more after spending time with him at a local music store he was so easy to talk to.

That's cool Mark. I Like Joe B, and am jealous of his collection.he definitely doesn't sit around. He seems to be always on tour.

It's Joe B. Figure he meant it to sound that way. I was really commenting on his playing style, which I though was more expressive than usual for him. He's got the chops. It's a matter of taste. I thought he actually showed some this time.

Love or hate Joe, it can't be denied that he is carrying on the guitar slinger torch. Yes he may have speed to his playing, but comes with cutting his teeth on the stage as a ladd with the likes of Danny Gatton etc. Fortunately, he has refined his playing and no doubt, works very hard to perfect it. Honestly, I find music today lack luster, over produced and fatiguing, Joe is an exception - he does not shroud his music in synths, autotune etc.

I've followed him for at least 15 years and remember him when he was "obscura" and played dives and offbeat college radio stations. One of my memories is going on 15 years ago a coworker of mine pulled out her big ol titties after a show and had Joe sign them with a sharpie... Never woulda thunk SHE would have done that

Yeah, he has been around and has paid his dues, I'm glad he is a decent guy and if buying vintage equipment is his only vice, I'm happy for him. Guitar oriented music needs him to carry the torch on...

Mark Fowler, this one is for you - two of the nicest guys in music:
