Schematic Heaven site says Going Down end of this month

I just happened to check Schematic heaven, site says it is going down end of March "get what you want now".

Is this new?

Here is what it says 3/5/14 at 2:21am EST:
Some of you may have noticed the recent site outages... It seems we've become a victim of
our own success in getting the word out to techs around the world that there's a FREE
resource for schematics that is, and continues to be, a non-profit site supported by
individual donations of schematics from around the world.


Due to the amount of downloading, the site has apparently been overwhelming the server
where it's currently hosted. So to comply with server limits I've had to temporarily take
a few of the larger files offline while I find a way to break them up into smaller downloads.


PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... Don't try to download the entire site as soon as it comes back
online over a mistaken fear that it's going to go away. Schematic Heaven is dedicated to
staying online and staying FREE for a long time to come.

In past years Schematic Heaven has been "off the air" on some occasions I've tried to search there, but it's always returned. They are a resource I would not at all like to lose. Seems just about anything on SH is also on Doug Hoffman's site (hooray for Doug & his assistants!) BUT I wouldn't even trust myself on that generality - sometimes one or the other comes up with that rare and rarely needed schemo.

THIS SITE IS GOING AWAY! Take what you can get, as everything will be removed very soon (end of March, 2014).

Sad news. It will be impossible to d/l the whole site and a great deal of it can be found elsewhere. Somehow, this seems to be the most successful site of its type and is a victim of its own success. I wonder if the owner of the site has a way to archive it so that maybe someone else can step up and repost the content.

The most responsible thing to do would be to contact whoever's running it and see if a copy of everything can be acquired either through FTP or a mailed DVD or some such. Then start a mirror somewhere else.

It can't be that big; the contents could be stored on a file sharing server like MediaFire or Dropbox or some such as one big zip. Or seperate zips for each manufacturer.

On the other hand, there's a handy little browser plugin called "Down Them All"...

Man, this is what peer-to-peer sharing (torrent) was designed for. Anyone have his ear? Ask him to ZIP up everything, and post it on torrent sites.

torch is a chrome like browser with a torrent downloader built in, i use it just for that purpose.

I recently tried to send in an Alamo Paragon schematic. It would kick back to me. He never got it.

When I open the site through Firefox, the "Going Away" banner is not there.
Only when I open it through IE.

I just tried it with Firefox and the Going Away banner is there. Maybe you are seeing a cached web page in IE?
