AX-84 data sources?

Post by Mark »

I remember the AX-84 site having great data on building their amps. I recall there are pictures of the boards and the boards wired into the chassis. I have been searching quite a bit but I just can’t locate these files.

Has anyone saved or found these diagrams?

This is some of the relevant info I found.

Nyberg's website has some photos and audio demos of the High Octane and November AX8 projects: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~ehn/ax84/#filter

Thanks for that link, it’s quite helpful.

I find the P1 amp to be a little strange, a lot of gain is lost via the treble peaking network after the volume control and the second stage has to drive the tone controls. I found with the master volume on half the gain was rather lacklustre. The amp only sounded good when both the preamp and master volume were up full and I was using a guitar with an overwound humbucker.

The AX 84 forum was re-homed to the site below. Very little current activity, mostly bots. A lot of old content is preserved there, but accessing it via the search window was problematic last time I tried

Many but not necessarily all of the AX84 documents can be found here
