Cool way to bypass a pesky mains fuse
Whoever put in the grounded power cord on this brown princeton ignored the broken fuse holder but had enough sense to pull the fuse while soldering and to touch up the other solder joint while he was at it. When reinstalling the fuse, the wire and solder joint on the sleeve poke through the hole into the tip. Double ziptie on the mains cord for extra strain relief. Came in with a blown rectifier...

The most interesting thing about repairing previously "repaired" amplifiers. Usually by new "startup" repair businesses.

Indeed. One of the few things that bolstered my confidence the first few years of repairing other peoples stuff was seeing how low the bar is around here.
